The Exposition Construction Authority (Expo) has concluded their outreach meetings with updates on the Final Environmental Impact Report (FEIR) for Phase 2 of the Expo Line project that is expected to be released early next year.
In February, Expo held three Public Hearings to obtain community input and receive comments on the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR). Over the past six months, the Phase 2 team has been working with agencies and stakeholders to address issues raised during the DEIR process. The recent meetings provided an opportunity to hear some of the latest thinking about the planned light rail line before the FEIR is finalized and released.
There remain a number of issues that have not yet been appropriately addressed and that could have negative impacts on the community. WSSM leadership continues to work with local government representatives to address shortcomings and seek improvements to the line. Let us hear your thoughts.
You can view the DEIR at: http://www.buildexpo.org/phase2_overview.php
For additional information please visit the project website at BuildExpo.org or call the Expo Hotline at 213-922-EXPO(3976).
No Way to One Way!
WSSM's lawsuit against the Mayor's proposal to adopt a priority flow plan for Pico and Olympic Blvds. was victorious against the city which is now required by the court to do an Environmental Impact Report analyzing the plan and its impacts on the community.
The plan was met with widespread opposition across the business and residential communities with a second lawsuit having been brought by the WLA Chamber of Commerce.
The city has hired an outside consulting firm to do the DEIR. It is our hope that Councilmember Koretz will work with his peers to the east and west to stop this ill-conceived plan which threatens business survival and the quality of life on streets that lie between these two major arterials.
